Anton Walvoord

Project Manager

Anton is a junior from the suburbs of Chicago studying Computer Engineering. He was on Energetics his freshman year, developing the power distribution module, sense PCBs, and FPCs. In sophomore year he was the Power Distribution sub-team lead, and this year he's excited to be the team's Project Manager. He was drawn to the team by the passion of everyone working on the car, and he’s excited to push the team even further! Outside of Formula, he loves to play guitar and find new music, as well as work on personal electrical projects.

Benji Sobeloff-Gittes

Benji Sobeloff-Gittes

Chief Engineer

Benji is a senior from Moscow, Idaho studying Mechanical and Computer engineering. He started on Suspension as a freshman, where he worked on hubs, uprights, tire analysis, and vehicle dynamics modeling. As a sophomore, he began working on the car's electrical systems and developed the team's custom traction inverter. He continued working on the inverter and was the team's Vehicle Integration Lead as a junior. When not working on Formula, you can find Benji looking at pictures of hedgehogs and feeding his online chess addiction.

Vehicle Integration Lead

Matt Hosemann is a third year student from Oakland, California studying mechanical engineering. After contributing to the design of the high-voltage enclosure in his first year and leading battery pack design and testing in his second, Matt will now be shaping and executing the team's technical direction for NFR26.

Benjamin Smith

Suspension Lead

Ben is a sophomore from Sparks, Maryland studying Mechanical Engineering. He joined Formula's suspension team his freshman year, where he worked on steering and anti roll bars. This year, he'll be leading the suspension team. Outside of Formula, Ben enjoys hiking, going on drives, and playing piano.

Rahwa Tesfay

Chassis Lead

Rahwa is a sophomore from Silver Spring, Maryland studying Mechanical Engineering with a minor in Earth and Planetary Sciences. She joined the Chassis subteam as a freshman, designing the Motor Sprocket Adapter for the drivetrain. This year, she will be leading Chassis, responsible for designing and manufacturing the frame, drivetrain, and all ergonomics for NFR26. In her free time, Rahwa enjoys running, listening to K-pop, and cheering on the Baltimore Ravens.

Reese Wu

Aerodynamics Lead

Reese is a junior from Houston, Texas, studying mechanical engineering. He joined aerodynamics as a freshman, working on the front wing, and continued as a sophomore working on the undertray and side-aerodynamic components. Outside of formula, he enjoys playing basketball and golf with his friends, and watching movies.

Lance Locker

Accumulator Lead

Lance is a junior from the suburbs of Chicago, Illinois studying Manufacturing and Design Engineering. He started by building a jigging system on the Chassis subteam his freshman year, and moved to designing and manufacturing the rockers for the Suspension subteam his sophomore year. Fun fact! Lance started as a journalism major before being convinced to switch to engineering.

Drake Vogelpohl

High Voltage Electronics Lead

Drake is a senior from Denver, Colorado studying Electrical and Computer Engineering. He joined Powertrain as a freshman, where he worked on the motor mount. He then moved to Electrical where he worked to design our fully custom battery management system (BMS). This year he is leading the HV Electronics, responsible for the custom inverter, custom BMS, and other electronics related to the safety of the high voltage system. Outside of Formula Drake loves skiing and traveling (did you know he studied abroad in Madrid).

Nil Ozcevik

Nil Ozcevik

Low Voltage Electronics Lead

Nil is a junior from Turkey studying Electrical Engineering. She joined the Formula team her sophomore year and has worked on drivetrain electronics, focusing on the ECU board. This year, she’s stepping into the role of Low Voltage Lead and is excited to support both new and ongoing projects across the team. Outside of engineering, Nil enjoys bouldering, listening to music, and shooting film photography.

Ryan Boyle

Data Acquisition Lead

Ryan is a senior from Seattle, Washington studying Computer Engineering and Computer Science in the BS/MS program. He joined the Criticals Subteam his sophomore year, designing the E-Throttle Controller before moving to the Drivetrain Electronics Subteam last year to work on the Electronic Control Unit. In his free time, he enjoys windsurfing, playing the saxophone, and watching early 2000s sitcoms.

John Raftus

John Raftus

Operations Lead

John is a Junior from Toronto, Canada, studying Applied Mathematics and Economics. He joined NFR's accumulator team during his sophomore year and will be leading the team's operations this year. When not working on Formula, you can find John playing golf, eating food, or watching a movie.
